About the Book:
‘To Be Drenched in Dreams, Delights, Downfalls and Dos’
a story From the Author
I wanted to write something that would resonate with someone at first encounter. One day at a local pop-up, someone walked up to our merchant table, and went to feel the soft, purple cover of the book. She flipped it over to the back, and after a moment, had peeked a smile as she softly nodded to herself. She began flipping through the cream colored pages—her eyes slowly gazed back and forth in a gentle rhythm. I’ve never interrupted someone’s experience with the book. I think there’s a magic that gets lost if you do. Sure enough, I could feel her rising curiosity for what led to the manifestation of it. As she brought the book a little closer to her, she looked back up at me and said,
“This is lovely…What made you write this book?”
I remember looking down and thinking deeply about my answer. I knew it, but as this would be the first time I would share it this way—candidly with someone I’ve just met for the first time, I also understood that this was a delicate story I was required to relay with care. I quietly opened up my own pages and told her more about myself and my story. As I was sharing parts of my truth in that intimate marketplace, I remember people beginning to look over. Others curiously floated toward our dreamily purple booth arrangement. Several people gathered with loving, listening, and anticipating ears, like children around a warm campfire. Moments later, heavy tears were shed and tight hugs were exchanged as smiles and laughter filled the intimate atmosphere. The listeners walked away with their newest read, or a literary gift for a loved one who came to mind. There was this heartfelt story of perspective that would now happily live with a few others, and their newest beginnings. All because one person resonated with this book at first encounter, and she wanted to know why.
